Philippe, say ’Bonjour’ to UNCLE Napoléon.”

Very, very carefully Augustin placed his son, in fact his first-born, in the arms of aforementioned Corsican, steadying the tiny head with one, for the record, slightly shaking, the fact that he has fathered a child in the first place was still simply a small MIRCALE to him, palm as he gently handed him over to the man he actually has chosen as the godfather of his son, however, wasn’t aware of this ’luck’ yet; no matter if he in fact wanted to or not.

Instantly an almost dumb grin tugged at the corners of his mouth at the mere sight how the little one grasped after one of the buttons on the other’s jacket, a small SMILE, giggle, of triumph from the child’s side once tiny fingers clenched around its aim. The younger Robespierre literally felt his heart MELT.

My, my; did he actually help making something so GOOD? Well, little Philippe was probably only so perfect because he looked more like his mother than his good-for-nothing father.

“I think he LIKES you.”

for  now ,   petit  philippe  seems  to  have  more  interest  in  buttons  of   frayed  coat    -    général véndemiaire  holds  the  little  boy  in  the  light  ,    scrutinizing  features.              je  pense  qu’il  a  ton  nez  ,    augustin.             a   broad  smile  sweeps  across  buonaparte’s  face    -    augustin’s  boy  has  decided  to  pay  attention  to  the  person  holding  him.

and  who’s  your  uncle  ?     who’s your uncle ?      your  uncle  is  napoléon !   na-po-lé-on !             he  emphasizes  each  syllable    -     determined  to  let  his  name  be  philippe’s  first  word.             (  already  he  wishes  to  have  a  child  of  his  own. )             features  contort  into  the  funniest  faces  ,     aiming  to  make  the  child  laugh.

then  ,    his  hand  moves  to  the  little  boy’s  ear  ,     tugging  on  it    -    not  as  hard  as  he  does  with  his  beloved  moustaches  ,    still  with  quite  some  force.             for  a  moment  he  fears  the  baby  boy  is  going  to  cry  ,    then  a  laugh  breaks through  ,    and  le  petit  caporal   mirrors  the  smile.              you’re  going  to  make  an  excellent  boy  ,     aren’t  you ?
